Treatment of chronic hip pain usually consists of physiotherapy, exercise therapy and over-the-counter painkillers.
If these metohds do not provide sufficient pain-relief, surgery will usually be offered to replace the arthritic hip with a prosthesis, also called an artificial hip or“new” hip.

Osteoarthritis mainly affects weight-bearing joints, including the hip joints, and is a common cause of persistent hip pain in middle-aged and older people. The risk of chronic hip pain increases with age. The older you are, the greater the risk of osteoarthritis.
